STORY TIME …

Born in Appalachia and raised in East Texas, we're no strangers to the sounds of the south. Music has always been an important part of our lives. We cut our teeth on the backs of church pews as hymns and country praise filled our ears. We sang songs around our grandparents' piano. We listened intently for hours as our family sang and played in the styles of days gone by, instilling a love for southern gospel and an ear for lyrics that touch the soul. Growing up, our family travelled to different parts of the country singing and ministering in different churches.

It was during this time, while on long roadtrips, that Caleb began his musical career as a talented car door drummer, often beating the plastic off with his First Act drumsticks (when he was home, it was the lampshades.) It became very apparent, even at the age of 3, that he had a special ear for music and exceptional rhythm to match. Before long, he was walking in the footsteps of our dad, grandpa, great grandpa, uncles and cousins as one by one, God blessed his ability to play most every instrument by ear. The sounds of guitar, piano, bass, drums, dobro, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and everything in between filled our home.

Whitney began singing as soon as she could talk. “He's Still Working On Me," was the favorite, repeated over and over again (sometimes with a tambourine - for flair.) At 7, she did her first recording sitting on a tall stool to reach a microphone in our grandpa's make-shift studio. As we got older, we began to sing together more and more, not just at home, but in churches, nursing homes, talent shows, camps, and wherever we felt someone could be touched by a song. It was just before our teenage years that we sat down one day with a notebook and a guitar and penned our first song. We were so humbled that God would bless us with something original that could bless someone else. And He's continued to do it over and over again in ways that have surpassed our expectations.

Our family tree is full of talented musicians and song writers who have innovated  gospel music in ways that were well before their time. From deep bluegrass roots on one side to deep southern gospel on the other, we've found ourselves somewhere in the middle producing a sound that is unique to our day as well. If you ask us, it's just country gospel: McBride style (or as Caleb likes to call it “chuntry”.) Today we are blessed to have written over 100 original songs. We've produced our first single, “Momma,"our first album, “Roads We've Traveled” and our second single, “May God Come Down” through Caleb's record label HOUSE OF THE FOREST RECORDS, LLC. under our original band name “The McBrides.'" All of our music is written, recorded, and produced by God's grace in the HOUSE OF THE FOREST RECORDS, studio. All music is played by Caleb. Vocals are a blend of Caleb, Whitney, our momma, Pam, and our dad,  Jamie. Our songs have been borne from trials and triumphs and God has made all the difference in each writing season.

We are so deeply grateful for the blessing of our roots and excited for the great things ahead. It's our prayer that this music will touch and encourage you in some way. Heatfelt thank you to everyone who has shared this journey with us in some way or another. We appreciate your support!

May God Bless Y'all,

McBride & Co.
